3/24/2014 - WOW ! LOOK AT THIS ! ! !
After years of intent, we finally took two of our reproduction Teco Green Vases to our Art Glass friend Bob Nugent and asked him to design and craft a pair of period appropriate art glass shades. Here are our new EXCLUSIVE TECO ART GLASS LAMPS:

Our Teco Art Glass Lamp shades are expertly crafted by Chicago's Tiffany Stained Glass Ltd, which for years was a popular store on Ohio St in the trendy River North gallery neighborhood of Chicago. Since 1975 and now relocated to suburban Forest Park, Chicagoís Tiffany Stained Glass owners Bob and Pat Nugent have earned the reputation for having the experience and professional skills necessary to properly repair and restore antique stained glass doors, windows, lamps and lighting fixtures.

When the opportunity arises to craft new items in the manner of the stained glass artisans of a hundred years ago, the experience mentioned above becomes the standard of workmanship. Bench fabricated using early 1900ís techniques, hand selected American made glass and often the same came (channeling) favored by Frank Lloyd Wright, todayís newly designed stained glass doors, windows, lamps and lighting fixtures are just as antique looking as the early 1900ís originals.

Such is the case with our new Teco Art Glass Lamps. Inspired by a known original Teco Lamp shade designed by Orlando Giannini who is known to have designed most of the art glass shades for Teco Pottery as well as several Teco pottery vase shapes. Giannini, who with Fritz Hilgart was a partner in the stained glass studio of Giannini & Hilgart, executed art glass windows, lighting fixtures and glass mosaics for projects designed by numerous Chicago Prairie School architects.

The intricate saw-tooth dentil feature of the ivory opalescent colored lamp shade skirt, the period color medium density blue green rolled opalescent glass panels and the same zinc came used 100 years earlier are all features reminiscent of the early Prairie School aesthetic. The came and lamp cap are finished in a rich black oxide patina that requires little or no maintenance. The lamps are outfitted with solid brass electrical fittings also with an antique patina. The lamps have twisted nylon cords typical of the period including a low profile 1900ís style plug. The pull chain sockets have heavy terminals that can accommodate 40 or 60 watt appliance bulbs which will provide ample task lighting.

The Teco Orb Art Glass Lamp (shown left above) is 17" tall and the shade has a diameter of 16". This lamp is an accent lamp best suited for placement on a sideboard, serving table, sofa table, writing desk, hall console, mantle, bookcase or bedroom night stand, chest or dresser.

The Teco Double Gourd Art Glass Lamp (right above) is 24" tall and the shade has a diameter of 20". This lamp is particularly suited as a table lamp providing sufficient light for chairside reading. The lamp would look beautiful on an end table, desk or library table. The lamp would look exquisite on an accessory table providing overall light for a room.
