|Carreaux du Nord Tile|
Several years back we encountered Carreaux du Nord Studio at a show. We were impressed with the beautiful glazes but somehow we failed to follow-up on our find.|
Later we traveled to Two Rivers Wisconsin to see the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Schwartz House only to discover that was also the home town of Carreaux du Nord.
I’d have to admit, maybe the architect wasn’t as famous but the home of Ned and Beth and the Carreaux du Nord Studio and Gallery is much more impressive than the Schwartz House!
Again we were blown away by the beautiful glazes Ned and Beth have mastered.
Carreaux du Nord studio has been making fine handmade Art Tiles in the Arts & Crafts tradition since 1995 for tile installations and the art tile enthusiast. Their in-house designs embrace both the English and American Arts & Crafts movement, Art Nouveau, and Mission styles specializing in handmade tile for use in fireplace surrounds, hearths, kitchen back splashes and the bath. Their full line of tile borders and field tiles have been designed to complement their Art Tile collection.
We found these two beautiful tiles in our leftover inventory. The tiles are incised back stamped including year and a serial number for authenticity. There is also a paper label and a small up-angle hole for hanging on a finishing nail.
We offer these tiles framed as described by Dard Hunter Studios in quarter-sawn oak.
A Customer comment upon receiving the framed White Oak in Evergreen as a Christmas gift: "The very best gift I got this year was the beautiful Carreaux du Nord tile. I just can't quit looking at it. Thanks you so much for this beautiful piece of art." Kay, Ottawa
