Arts & Crafts Press Greeting Cards by Yoshiko Yamamoto
The Arts & Crafts Press was founded some years back by Bruce Smith and his wife, Yoshiko Yamamoto.
Bruce is an author and lecturer on the Arts & Crafts movement; Yoshiko has co-authored a book with Bruce, but she is primarily an artist. She has emerged over the years as a superb designer of greeting cards, block prints, posters and book covers. Her Japanese heritage provides the inspiration to capture the oriental aesthetic so sympathetic with, and complementary to, the art of the American Arts & Crafts Movement.
In addition to designing, sketching and painting, Yoshiko runs the letter-press printer, printing her cards, block prints and posters using hand cut wood or linoleum blocks, one for each color. As one would expect, Yoshiko also uses a variety of acid free papers, each best suited respectively for cards, block prints or posters.
Yoshiko's (Yo-she-ko) work is greatly admired by those of us familiar with the current Arts & Crafts movement. Yoshiko also has an exchanting personality and her art and charm always draw a crowd to her booth when she is at a show.
All Arts & Crafts Press Greeting Cards are blank on the inside for you to write your personal greeting.
